A DESIGN SCHEME OF DIGITAL SYSTEM FOR THE PRODUCTION OF THE 1∶50 000 GEOLOGICAL MAP OF REGIONAL SURVEYS

According to the overall plan of the information engineering of the Ministry of Geology and Mineral Resources （MGMR）, the Bureau of Geological Survey set up a project of the digital system for geological map production for regional surveys. Its purpose is to solve further the problem about the data and criteria for 1∶50 000 digital geological map production through experimental study so as to work out a unifying work process and technical requirements and spread the application of the GIS technique. This paper mainly deals with the objective, significance, research contents, technical line, map layer division and work process, which may be used for reference in the further study.
