THE GEOLOGIC CHARACTERISTICS OF THE CAMBRIAN NONMETALLIC DEPOSITS IN SOUTHERN JILIN PROVINCE

    • In this paper the author discusses the Cambrian nonmetallic mineral deposits distributed in southern JiLin province. They include large and intermediatesized phosphorus deposits of the Lower Cambrian Shuidong Formation (its age corresponds to the Meishuchun Stage), phosphorus deposits of the Maozhuang Formation (its age corresponds to the late Longwangmiao Stage), mineral resources of flux limestones, dolomites and cement limestnnes of the Jianchang Formation (its age corresponds to the Changlangpu Stage), large and intermediate-sized gypsum deposits of the Mantou Formation (corresponding to the early Longwangmiao Stage sediments) and deposits of cement rocks and white cement rocks distributed in the Middle Cambrian Zhangxia Formation (its age corresponds to the Zhangxia Stage). In this paper the author expounds the regional geological stratigraphy and the position of the above deposits in the strata, the basic characteristics of ore-bearing rock series, ore types, ore composition, ore textures and structures, sedimentary characteristics and lithofaeies-paleogeographic environments.
