POLYLEVEL NAPPE STRUCTURES IN CHAOHU, ANHUI PROVINCE

    • Polylevel nappe structures have been recognized in the Chaohu area, Anhui Province, according to a study, analysis and comparison of a large amount of sedimentological, paleontological, geophysical and geochemical data. Based on the overlapping relationship, they may be divided into three sheets: the upper nappe, middle nappe (Yinping allochthon) and lower nappe. Analyses of tectonic environments and stratigraphy indicate that these nappes resulted from lateral compression and gravity gliding.
