THE DISCOVERY OF BLUESCHIST IN KUMUX OF THE SOUTH TIANSHAN MOUNTAINS AND ITS TECTONIC SIGNIFICANCE

    • The blueschist found recently in Kumux in the central sector of the south Tianshan Mountains occurs as a kind of matrix of ophiolitic melange, containing glaucophane and crossite. It is the product of the subduction and closing of a backarc basin on the southern margin of the Paleo-Asian Ocean at the end of the Early Paleozoic.
