THE DISCOVERY OF BLUESCHIST IN KUMUX OF THE SOUTH TIANSHAN MOUNTAINS AND ITS TECTONIC SIGNIFICANCE
The blueschist found recently in Kumux in the central sector of the south Tianshan Mountains occurs as a kind of matrix of ophiolitic melange, containing glaucophane and crossite. It is the product of the subduction and closing of a backarc basin on the southern margin of the Paleo-Asian Ocean at the end of the Early Paleozoic.
