GEOLOGICAL CONDITIONS FOR THE FORMATION OF DIAMOND DEPOSITS AND DIRECTION IN DIAMOND PROSPECTING IN THE TARIM PLATFORM

    • Analysis of geological conditions of the Tarim platform indicates that the Tarim platform is similar to the metallogenic platform areas in the following aspects:they are both ancient platform regions and there exist similar structural and geological conditions, associated rocks of kimberlites and terrace diamond placers. According to these, ore prospect areas may be delineated, for example, areas of associated rocks and ore prospect areas of a fracture zone between two secondary tectonic units. Therefore, the Tarim platform is a promising area for diamond finding.
