    THE DISCOVERY OF THE EOCENE MARINE STRATA IN THE WESTERN SECTOR OF GANGDISE,XIZANG,AND THEIR GEOLOGICAL SIGNIFICANCE

    • The discovery of the Eocene marine strata in the western sector of Gangdise suggests that Gangdise was linked with the early Tertiary sea area of the Indus—Ladakh.Thus the highest horizon of the Tertiary marine strata on the southern margin of Gangdise in Tibet.Based on this premise,it may be in the main confirmed that in the middle Eocene seawater retreated out of Tibet from east to west.
