GRANULITES IN THE PINGQUAN AREA,HEBEI PROVINCE

    • The granulite distributed in the Shangpingfang Formation of the Qixi Group (Archean) in the Pingquan area,Hebei Province, exhibits a special texture, structure and mineral association and is different from typical mosaic granoblastic granulite. It may be divided into banded felsic granulite and gneissoid garnet-pyroxene-plagioclase granulite. The former is characterized by orientedly exsolved perthite and plastically deformed quartz Iamellae.while the latter exhibits a mortar texture and is composed by plagioclase(potassium teldspar). hypersthene, diopside, hornblende, garnet and quartz(±). The study of metamorphic facies may explain the effect of directional pressure on progressive metamorphism and meanwhile indicate that granulite is not all the product of deep burieal metamorphism. An in—depth study of the granulite of the area is conducive to the study of the history and features of the regional metamorphism of the area.
