CORRELATION OF THE SHANXI STAGE IN NORTH CHINA AND RELATED FUSULINID-BEARING STRATA IN CERTAIN AREAS

    • The correlation of the Shanxi Stage in North China and its related fusu- linid-bearing strata in certain areas is shown in a table. The correlation indicates that the Shanxian Stage (Zhang Zhicun, 1985) in North China as well as the uppermost part of the Taiyuanian Stage is roughly equivalent to the lower part of the Darvasites ordinatus zone from the Swine Limestone Formation in Chuanshan of Jiangsu, to the Robustoschwagerina schellwieni zone from the Baomoshan Formation in Pu’an of Guizhou, to the Staffella zone from the Maping Formation in Yishan of Guangxi, to the Nagatoella lower subzone from the Schwagerina cushmani zone of the generalized Chihsia Formation in southeastern Hunan and to the Sakmarian Stage, characterized by the Robustoschwagerina-Paraschwagerina zone, in southwestern Darwas of Central Asia. It is not correct to correlate the Shanxi Stage in Shanxi with the generalized Chihsia Stage as a whole corresponding to the Sakmarian, Artinskian, Chihsian and Kubergandian Stages in Central Asia (Leven, Scherbovich, 1978) and South China.
