A NEW STRATIGRAPHIC SEQUENCE OF THE XIKANG GROUP IN SICHUAN

    • Areno-pelitic flysch formation is widespread on the Western Sichuan plateau. Its time range is Ladinian to Norian (Late Triassic). The stratigraphic sequence consists in ascending order of the Zhaqunao Formation, Zhuvvo Formation, Waduo Formation, Lianghekou Formation and Yajiang Formation. Along the Xianshuihe fault zone there locally outcrop special formations such as the Runiangu Formation, Gedicun Formation and Xinduqiao Formation. The last one is extensively distributed on the northern side of the fault zone. They combine to form the new stratigraphic sequence of the Xickang Group.
