PERIODS AND STAGES OF THE ZHUGUANGSHAN MASSIF

    • The Zhuguangshan composite massif is located on the Hunan-Jiangxi-Guangdong border region, covering an area of about 5000 km~2. On the basis of the contact relationships between the massif and the sedimentary(metamorphic) rocks and nearly 100 isotopic age data, 4 periods of intrusive rocks have been distinguished, i.e. the Caledonian, Hercynian, Indosinian and early Yanshanian periods, of which the Caledonian, Hercynian and early Yanshanian periods may be each subdividedinto into the second and third stages and the Indosinian period three stages. The second stage of the early Yanshanian period may be further subdivided into three successive intrusions. There are a total of four periods, nine stages and eleven age units of magmatic rocks.
