SEISMITES OF THE LATE PROTEROZOIC QINGBAIKOU SYSTEM IN THE TAIZI RIVER VALLEY OF LIAONING

    • Seismite is a kind of catastrophic event rock. Major advances have been made in the study of seismites of China during the past 10 years. This paper introduces a new sequence of seismites in the 3rd Member of the Nanfen Formation of the Late Proterozoic Qingbaikou System in the Taizi River valley of Liaoning Province. This seismite sequence is an autochthonous system, and consists of the liquefied micrite veins, liquefied curl deformations, collapse blocks and ground fissures. Actually, it is the earliest record of the seismic event caused by vibrational liquefaction in carbonate rocks found in China up to date.
