THE ESTABLISHMENT OF THE ZHUYANGGUAN FORMATION

In the vicinity of Zhuyangguan,Lushi county,Henan province,there occurs a sequence of terrestrial clasticrocks. With a certain thickness,distribution extent and clear boundaries, it is an independent lithostratigraphic unit,representing Late Cretaceous sediments in the northern Qinling stratigraphic area. In the past this sequence was notnamed by anyone. Studies show that it meets requirements for establishing a formation,so it is designated as a for-mation named the Zhuyangguan Formtion.This paper also introduced the stratotype section of the ZhyangguanFormation.
