Subdivision of the late Mesozoic volcanic stratigraphy in south Jiangxi and north Guangdong

    • The subdivision of the late Mesozoic volcanic sequence is reviewed and relevant problems proposed. It is suggested that on the basis of volcanic cycle and sedimentary facies, the sequence could be subdivided into three groups and six formations. The volcanics in the bottom of mid Jurassic are named as Yutian Group, which is subdivided into Shuitoujing and Changpu Formation. The volcanics in the middle of late Jurassic are named as Lianhuazhai Group that could be subdivided into Shangding and Jilongzhang Formation. The volcanics in the upper portion of the Cretaceous are named as Banshi Group that is further divided into Heshui and Yousheng Formation.
