DISCOVERY OF WAVE-CUT REMAINS IN OFFSHORE AREAS OF SOUTHEASTERN SHANDONG AND NORTHERN JIANGSU

    • A lot of wave-cut remains of different types and forms have been found in a vast region extending from the Yuntai Mountain area of Lianyun Port northwards to Laoshan Mountain of Qingdao and from the seashore westwards to the Luxian-Laoyingding area, at altitudes of 4-1, 120 m above sea level. The main types include sea stacks and sea caves. The sea caves occur in rou- nded, ellipsoid, dustpanlike, scaly, irregular, grooved and honeycombed forms. Geomorphologically they are usually distributed in rock projections on mou- ntain ridges or slopes.
