THE REMAINS AND HISTORY OF EVOLUTION OF THE PLATE TECTONICS IN THE GEOSYNCLINAL REGION IN THE NORTHERN PART OF INNER MONGOLIA

    • This paper briefly describes the regional distribution, modes of occurrence and petrological and mineralogical characteristics, of such remains of plate tectonics as the ophiolite zone, paired metamorphic zones and melanges that have been ascertained now in the geosynclinal region in the northern part of Inner Mongolia. It also analyses and discusses the characteristics of oceanic crustal consumption and continental crustal accretion in the course of activity of the Siberian and Sino-Korean plates during the period from the late Proterozoic to late Paleozoic and their main geological structures, sedimentary formations and igneous activity.
