STRATIGRAPHICAL DIVISION AND NOMENCLATURE OF THE TERTIARY IN THE TANGGULA MOUNTAINS

According to the data of 1:200000 regional surveys, the Tertiary of the Tanggula Mountains is divided into the Paleocene-Eocene, Oligocene, Miocene and Pliocene, which are named the Tuotuohe Group (E_1-2tt), Yaxico Group （E₃yx）, Chabama Group （N₁ch）, Wudaoliang Group （N₁wd） and Quguo Formation （N₂q） respectively. The discovery of saline mineral deposits in the Yaxico Group and zinc, silver and iron in the Wudaoliang Group is promising.
