INTRODUCTION TO THE GEOLOGICAL CHARACTERISTICS OF THE MAIN ISLANDS ALONG THE COAST OF SHANDONG PROVINCE

    • The coastal zone of Shandong includes the Haizhou Bay,Jiaozhou Bay, Shidao Bay,Zhifu Bay and Laizhou Bay,with a total length of 1957.8 kin. About 40 islands outcrop near the coastal zone. The main islands include Che- niushan Island,Zhaitand Island,Sushan Island,Hailu Island,Kongtang Island, Miao Island and Sang Island. The geological structures in these islands are complex and varied and intimately associated with the geological characteri- stics of the land. This paper provides relatively comprehensive geological infornmation for the geological surveys of this region.
