INTRODUCTION TO THE GEOLOGICAL CHARACTERISTICS OF THE MAIN ISLANDS ALONG THE COAST OF SHANDONG PROVINCE

The coastal zone of Shandong includes the Haizhou Bay,Jiaozhou Bay, Shidao Bay,Zhifu Bay and Laizhou Bay,with a total length of 1957.8 kin. About 40 islands outcrop near the coastal zone.The main islands include Che- niushan Island,Zhaitand Island,Sushan Island,Hailu Island,Kongtang Island, Miao Island and Sang Island.The geological structures in these islands are complex and varied and intimately associated with the geological characteri- stics of the land.This paper provides relatively comprehensive geological infornmation for the geological surveys of this region.
