STRATIGRAPHIC REGIONALIZATION AND LITHOSTRATIGRAPHIC UNITS OF THE PERMIAN IN JIANGXI

    • On the basis of sedimentary features, the author divided the Permian in Jiangxi Province into three sedimentary regions, the Yangtze region, Jiangnan region and South China region, which are further divided into six areas. Stratigraphic studies have confirmed that there exist transitional relationships between various regions (or areas). In this paper the Wanzai area is assigned to the Yangtze region and the limits of the Yangtze region have surpassed the Jiuling Mountains. The Permian lithostratigraphic names in Jiangxi Province are too numerous and chaotic. They are discussed and elaborated in the paper.
