Characteristics and protection and utilization of natural selenium-rich land resources in Ruijin Basin, Ganzhou, Jiangxi Province

Ruijin of Ganzhou in Jiangxi Province is the cradle of the People's Republic of China and the famous "Red Capital".It is situated in the Ruijin Basin which is one of the four major basins in Ganzhou and one of the main agricultural areas.For the purpose of poverty alleviation in Ganzhou, the 1:50000 geochemical survey of land quality was deployed covering an area of 716 km², and a total of 130 km² of selenium-enriched land was found.According to the investigation results, the natural selenium-rich land resources in the Ruijin Basin were extracted, and their spatial distribution, content characteristics, environmental quality, nutritional status, atmospheric quality and irrigation water quality were assessed in full detail.The source of soil selenium was thus deduced, and suggestions on the protection and utilization of natural selenium-rich land resources in relation to regional agriculture, tourism, distinctive towns and geological culture villages in the Ruijin Basin were put forward.The results provide a scientific support for the protection and efficient utilization of selenium-rich land resources in Ruijin.
