Mode of occurrence of helium in Weihe Basin, Shaanxi Province and its significance

Helium(He), a kind of rare and strategic resource, occurs well in Weihe Basin. According to previous views, the resource of He and its associated gas may belong to water soluble gas, and the further evaluation and development are restricted by its hard development and low interest. Therefore, it is significant to identify the mode of occurrence of He resource. Based on the data analysis of dynamic monitoring, logging and samples from petroleum wells and geothermal wells, it can be inferred that not only water soluble gas resource but also resource of free state He and its associated gas are developed in Weihe Basin. In other words, abundant He reservoirs may exist in Weihe Basin. This new opinion is important for further evaluation and development of the resource.
