Abstract
Qaidam Basin has rich Jurassic, Tertiary, Neogene and Quaternary oil and gas resources which occur in northern Qaidam Basin, western Qaidam Basin, and Sanhu region in eastern Qaidam Basin respectively. These areas have therefore been selected as the major exploration targets by Qinghai Oilfiled Petroleum Company. With the progress in the study of northern Xinjiang Carboniferous strata and the success in drilling, the Carboniferous has already become the important exploration strata in western China, and much importance has been attached to the Carboniferous strata of Qaidam Basin by the explorers. Surface geological survey shows that the Carboniferous strata of Qaidam basin are a set of potential hydrocarbon source rocks, and DLHA area is the one that has developed Carboniferous rocks with favorable conditions for hydrocarbon. Through the processing, interpretation and comprehensive research on the MT exploration data of DLHA area in the east of Qaidam Basin, the authors re-recognized the existence and distribution characteristics of the Jurassic and Carboniferous strata, defined the characteristics of the carboniferous and Jurassic distribution, and pointed out that the bulge of Dragon Brooke is the favorable area for exploring the Carboniferous strata.
