An analysis of shoreline changes in Liaohe River delta based on remote sensing and GIS technology

    • For the purpose of investigating the temporal and spatial characteristics of remote sensing images, the authors selected images of five periods taken from 1970 to 2010 to interpret the shoreline migrations in Liaohe River delta. The result indicates that in every time interval of two neighboring images, there emerged a newly accumulated land, whose area was 15.52km2 from 1970 to 1980, 40.55km2 from 1980 to 1990, 70.14km2 from 1990 to 2000, and 17.33km2 from 2000 to 2010, respectively. The factors responsible for shoreline migrations are analyzed in the aspects of native influence and human activity.
