Abstract
Junggar Basin has rich coal, oil, natural gas and uranium resources, but the targeting and breakthrough of the prospecting for sandstone-type uranium deposits remain a difficult problem in uranium resources exploration of this basin. Using the new idea of employing the data of coalfield drilling for second-round development of uranium resources proposed by Tianjin Center of China Geological Survey, the authors conducted comprehensive research on the coalfield logging data collected from a certain area on the eastern margin of the basin. The large-sized and continuous radioactive anomalies were delineated in the middle Jurassic Tuntouhe Formation, thus showing favorable ore-searching prospect. Based on systematic research on the sandstone-type uranium metallogenic conditions, such as tectonic conditions, lithofacies and lithologic character, paleoclimate-topography and hydrogeology, the authors verified key coal anomaly drill holes and determined several drill holes intersecting industrial uranium reserves or mineralization and indicated the targets for the next step exploration work, thus opening up a new prospect for the exploration of sandstone-type uranium deposits in Junggar Basin.
