Abstract
The field of engineering landslide prevention and control is highly practical and technical. The rapid progress of engineering landslide prevention and control research in China is closely related to sustainable large-scale engineering construction. In order to review the new progresses and crucial scientific and technical issues in this field, this paper tries to comprehensively explore the effective, rapid and active landslide disaster reduction and prevention approaches based on the thought as to how to effectively prevent, rapidly treat and actively mitigate engineering landslide disasters. This paper consists mainly of three parts based on an overview of main engineering landslide prevention and control progresses. The first part is to explore effective prevention approaches to the engineering landslide in three aspects of disturbing process and mechanism, potential hazard recognition and assessment, and monitoring and early warning of engineering slope; among them, landslide hazard assessment is regarded as the crucial problem of effective prevention. The second part is to review the new progress of rapid response and disposal approaches in three aspects of rapid drilling and investigating, assessing and anchoring techniques; among them, the adaptive anchoring technique for deep seated landslide deserves attention. The third part is to analyze active mitigating approaches to engineering landslide disaster in three other aspects, i.e., active concept and consciousness, landslide risk assessment and control, and comprehensive disaster reduction. It is considered that the key to disaster reduction and prevention should be based on developing national information sharing platform of comprehensive landslide disaster mitigation which integrates prevention, treatment and management approaches.
