New material of Late Devonian plants fossils from Huangjiadeng Formation in Yichang area, Hubei, China and its significance

    • This paper describes the plants fossils found firstly from the Huangjiadeng Formation in Guanzhuang area near Yichang, including six genera, six species, namely Prorolepidodendron cf. scharyanum Krejci sp., Lepidodendropsis arborescens (Sze) Sze, Cyclostigma kiltorkense Haught.,Sublepidodendron sp., Leptophloeum rhombicum Dawson and Stigmaria ficoides (Sternberg) Brongn. The discovery of plants fossils, not only has enriched the plant combination and more paleontology proof of division and correlation of Huangjiadeng Formation, but also has indicated the geological time-frame of the plants fossils can be extended to the Late Devonian.
