Discovery and significance of ankylosaur specimens from the Late Cretaceous Qiupa Formation in Luanchuan, Henan, China

    • Ankylosaur specimens discovered from Late Cretaceous Qiupa Formation in Qiupa Town, Luanchuan County, Henan Province are reported. The ankylosaur specimens include a single tooth, a nearly complete dorsal vertebra, incomplete dorsal rib and ischium. Although the specimens are not enough to be established as a new taxon, this is the second ankylosaurid site except for the locality of Zhongyuanosaurus in central China. Its discovery provides important information on the migration and paleogeographic distribution of ankylosaurs.
