    • Discrepancy remains on the age of the Sanhuashi Group and Xixiang Group, Hannan, Shanxin Province. Abundant continental spores which can be categorized into 40 varieties, 22 genera with indicative timing feature were discovered in grey and black grey sandy plate rocks of Baimianxia Formation. This fossil assemblage with the most possible age of Middle Devonian or early Middle Devonian can be roughly correlated with those Devonian spores in South China, Southwest China and West Qingling, or furthermore with early Middle Devonian spores from European and South America ancient red sandstone and its vicinities, to be more exact, early Eifelian of Middle Devonian in West Europe.
