Some problems of geological study in the western China orogenic belt

This paper discusses some important issues concerning pericontinental tectonic evolution， and in board sense, considers the studies of continental orogenic belt geology as that of pericontinental geology. Based on the research of new regional geological material, the authors expound the characteristics and evolutional processes of pericontinental multiarc-basin tectonic system, and suggest a group of ophiolitic melange which nearly formed at the same time represents the relics of pericontinental multiarc-basic tectonic systems. Moreover, the net and knot framework in plane or section is possibly the basic remnant mode of ancient pericontinental multiarc-basin tectonic system.
