Evaluation units in the land quality assessments—A case study of the Xinzhou basin, Shanxi, China

    • Multi-target regional geochemical survey, regional ecogeochemical evaluation and land quality geochemical assessment are a series project, of which the geochemical land quality assessment is closely linked with the production and living of humans. This work is very complex, and its core is the evaluation unit classification in the work area and the evaluation unit is the smallest space unit in the land quality geochemical assessments. Take the Xinzhou basin, Shanxi, for example, the method of overlap between the map of land-use types and map of soil types in the evaluation area was used for the assessments at the national- and provincial level, providing a geochemical basis for land macro-management and planning of the country, provinces and municipalities and serving the strategic goal of sustainable land use.
