The "drunk men wood" is usually considered as an indication of a landslide.During a detailed investigation of geological hazards in Baoji,Shaanxi,the authors found "drunk men woods" on deformed slopes.Through measurements of leaning angles of trees of a "drunk men woods" at the Guojiazhuang deformed slope in Longxian County and slope angles,combined with a geometric analysis,the authors think that the leaning angles of trees reflect the variation of slope angles,and thus they draw the conclusion that continuous steepening of the slope angle is a main way of slope deformation in the area.Study shows that "drunk men woods" has diverse and concrete indicative significance:it records the history of slope deformation and may serve as an indication distinguishing a landslide from a deformed slope,and additionally it may indicate the states of the landslide and slope and may also be used to judge where there exist landslide shear cracks.
