Urban geological research and progress in urban geological work in the last decade

In this paper progress in the study of urban geology over the last decade is reviewed. International urban geological research has focused on the aspects such as integration of urban geology with urban planning and assessments of the urban geoenvironment and geohazard risks. Domestic urban geological research has focused on the aspects such as urban geological survey and urban geohazard prevention and control. Then urban geological work over the last decade is reviewed. Internationally, establishing the urban dynamic geoenvironment monitoring system has been one of the new trends. Domestically, urban geological survey has still been the emphasis of urban geological work in a rather long period of time in the future. At last, several countermeasures are presented with respect to some existing problems: combine urban geological research with major problems in the progress of urban development, apply modern IT actively; make great efforts to train professional talents, take the initiative to do services to urban planning and construction, work out special plans for urban geological work and establish a circulation mechanism of achievements of urban geological work.
