Abstract
In the Handan-Xingtai area, southern Hebei, skam iron deposits mainly occur along the contact zone between Yanshanian mildly and slightly alkaline diorite-monzonite stocks and Middle Ordovician carbonate rocks. The shape of orebodies is complex, and folds are dominant ore-controlling and host structures. The ore type is monotonous and the main ore mineral is magnetite. The mineralization and alteration show pronounced zoning, and albitization is an important ore-hunting indicator. Plutons related to ore deposits formed by multiple magmatic pulses. The earlier intrusions provided ore-forming material during albitization, while magmatic hydrothermal solutions brought by the later rintrusions were the cartier of ore-form- ing materials, and the compressive stress and heat produced by hydrothermal solutions were dynamic forces for the migration of ore-forming materials. Based on the above-mentioned analysis, an ore-forming model of skarn iron deposits in the area has been constructed.
