Zircon SHRIMP U-Pb age of Neoproterozoic metagranite in the North Kunlun unit on the southern margin of the Qaidam block in China

Zircon from a metagranite pluton in the Baishahe Formation of the Jinshuikou Group in the North Kunlun unit yields a SHRIMP U-Pb age of ca. 904 Ma. This age and the available dating data suggest that there exists a Meso- to Neoproterozoic granitic intrusive belt on the southern margin of the Qaidam block and that the whole Qaidam block probably regionally responded to the amalgamation event of the global Rodinia supercontinent.
