Abstract
Preliminary field investigation of the Zhanda basin in the Ngari area, Tibet, indicate that not only the boundary fault is very active but also many active faults are newly found in the basin, and in addition, there are voluminous olistostromes. The investigation provides valuable information and data for the evaluation of regional crustal stability in the Zhanda area and analysis of the regional stress field of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau.
