Abstract

The Jiaheshan ductile shear zone in the Zhuanghe area,south ern Liaoning,occurs in a Late Triassic-Early Jurassic granite body.Geometric,kinematic,and dynamic studies and mass-balance analysis suggest that the shear zone is a normal ductile shear zone of subhorizontally exten sional type that moves from WNW to ESE.It formed in the early Yanshanian by post-orogenic exten sion due to stress relaxing caused by the compression of the Izanagi plate toward eastern China.
