Application of the ecostratigraphic method to 1∶50 000 regional geological mapping

The concrete procedures and methods for the measurements of ecostratigraphic sections, establishment of basic ecostratigraphic mapping units—communities—and ecostratigraphic mapping have been summarized through 1∶50 000 trial ecostratigraphic mapping. The Devonian dominant sedimentary strata that are chosen for trial ecostratigraphic mapping in the study area are divided into 12 communities. Through ecostratigraphic mapping the spatial distribution and time range of various communities have been ascertained and the precision of the stratigraphic division and correlation has been raised.
