  • The international state of the art guidelines of landslide risk assessment and management are reviewed. Some issues in landslide risk assessment study including theoretical and technical framework, study levels and precision, zoning methodologies for landslide inventory, susceptibility, hazard and risk are summarized. Potential error sources of landslide risk zoning results and reliability validating methods are indicated. Suggestion of risk control measures for land use planning is provided based on landslide risk zoning results. History and experience of landslide risk management in main countries and regions are summed up; consequently according to current situation of Chinese geohazard prevention and reduction, the urgency of developing landslide risk assessment and management guideline is emphasized. The risk assessment and management prospect of sudden geohazard including landslide and so on are predicted.
