Abstract

After dozens of years′ development of China′s information research work, a multi-level and multi-way information service system which is distinct with Chinese characteristics has formed. As China′s national conditions decide that information research is a part of the system, and this is also an important feature of China′s information work. Many achievements has been made during the development of China′s geological and mining information research. As a specific social function, information research work must have its own theoretical acknowledgement as a guide. Such acknowledgement is gradually formed and developed in common practice. Confronted with the new situation, China's information research work is now transforming from "supply-driven" to "demand-driven". This provides an opportunity but at the same time a challenge.
