Abstract
As a main carrier for public service of geological work, importance of geological data is realized more and more, at the same time, demand for them increases steadily. The "Decision of the State Council on Strengthening Geological Work" clarifies “promotion of development and application of geological data” as one of six main tasks for China′s geological work in the new period. In recent years, the amount of accumulated geological data and relevant service utilized during geological and prospecting work increased rapidly, and the discipline has also changed from stressing on collecting and storing to utilizing and applying. However, many problems remain, including incomplete service system, imperfect standard, weak foundation, and backward conception. Accordingly, it′s necessary to establish a notion of “all-round and whole process service”, with a goal of setting up “service-oriented national geologic survey organization”, taking advantage of the promotion of “utilization and application of geological data” as a turning point, and based on “State Geo-information and Data Center” as a platform, so as to meet the needs of economical and social development as much as possible.
