Some problems in the study of structural geology and tectonics in China

Structural geology and tectonics in China are now not in a prosperous stage, which is manifested not only by of the limited number of published papers, but also more importantly by the existence of many problems concerning academic ideas, research methods and academic atmosphere. The author discusses the following important problems on structural geology and tectonics: (1) basic research on structural deformation, (2) tectonic evolution, (3) rheology and fluid processes and (4) development of applied structural geology and promotion of basic research.
