  • Development of geochemical mapping was from local geochemical prospecting to regional geochemical exploration, and regional geochemical mapping, then to national and global geochemical mapping. Discussion is made about the evolution of aims, ideas and methodology of geochemical mapping in Western countries, Russian and China. The sophistication of geochemical mapping methodology including its unification and diversification will made great contributions in solving resources and environmental problems in the 21st century.
