Abstract:
Tectonostratigraphy is a new branch of stratigraphy. Its theoretical basis is modern stratigraphy, structural geology, tectonics and metamorphic geology.Through many years of geological mapping in metamorphic terrains,it has been demonstrated that it is necessary to apply the work method of integrating the study of tectonic deformation with stratigraphic study in solving the geological problem about metamorphic series that have undergone complex deformation and metamorphism. According to different metarnorphic terrains, different lithodemic units have been established,i. e.: lithostratigraphic units(group, formation and member),tectostratigraphic units(group complex, rock formation and rock member)and tectolithostratigraphic units(rock zone, rock sheets and melange).Through an integrated analysis of the types of tectonic deformation and metamorphism, order of their formation, emplacement of plutons and isotopic age data, this paper discusses the regional distribution and formation ages of metamorphic rocks and their role and significance in the process of crustal evolution.
