Abstract: The north China massif was formed as a result of the disintegration of the Chinese proto-massif during the Xingkaiian structural movement. From the Sinian to Triassic, it experienced a lengthy, relatively stable period. Since the Meso-Cenozoic, controlled by fractures, it has been gradually disintegrated into several fault blocks of differing sizes, and undergone complex folding and fracturing, accompanied by frequent and strong magmatic activity. A tectonic map showing various main stages of structural development since the Meso-Cenozoic in the north China region has been compiled by applying methods of historical and structural analyses, and the regularity governing the break-up process and structural activity of the north China massif is discussed in the papar on the basis of elucidating the characteristics of the structural activity at various stages of structural development.
