Abstract:
Carboniferous Permian sedimentary formations in the eastern part of the North China Platform comprise five depositional sequences.DS 1 to DS 3 in the lower part are marked by epicontinental depositional sequences,DS 4 is a transitional sequence, and DS 5 is a lacustrine sequence. From the late Early Carboniferous to early Late Permian, the extent of transgression of the North China epicontinental sea extended from east to west and from north to south. The process of this lithofacies paleogeographic evolution was mainly controlled by the closure of the Yinshan Yanshan orogen north of the platform in the Variscan period and west directed successive closing of the Qinling orogen south of the platform from the late Variscan to Indosinian periods.
