Abstract:
This paper discusses the Permian strata and paleontologic section in Gya’n- yima,Zanda,Tibet.A stratigraphic division and age analysis have been made on this section, the Upper Permian Gya’nyima Formation(P
2j)and Lower Per- mian Xilanta(P
1~2x)established and the paleogeography analysed.Besides the authors also briefly discuss the geological significance of the Permian strata along the Yarlung Zangbo River and repudiate the view that the“Permian lime- stone blocks”along the Yarlung Zangbo River are“allochthons”or“klippen” thrust from the north over along distance.
