Abstract:
Wafangdian area in Liaoning Province is famous for rich diamond resources, and the diamond deposit belongs to kimberlite type. Based on the study of the regional tectonic setting and the latest project research results, the authors divided the tectonic evolution process of kimberlite orefield in Wafangdian area into seven tectonic cycles. By discussing the characteristics of different tectonic cycles in Wafangdian area of Liaoning Province and analyzing their influence on the kimberlite, the authors have reached the conclusion that the nearly EW-trending structure controlled the formation and mineralization of the kimberlite in the south of Liaoning Province during Caledonian. Yanshanian tectonic activity altered the distribution of the kimberlite. It is considered that the mineralization stage of the kimberlite rock in this area can be extended from Paleozoic to Mesozoic.
