Abstract:
EU (European Union) is the leading advocator and propeller for world environmental protection and sustainable development, and it has accumulated a series of advanced principles, experience and practices in environmental geological science. In this paper, the authors analyzed current status of EU's environmental geological survey and scientific research through mapping, monitoring and mechanism studying based on discussing of EU's basic environmental management principles. The authors also summarized EU's strategic focus on scientific development in the area of environmental geology, and teased out a developing route of the agency of geological survey in EU's member states which is a transition from traditional geological survey to modern geological survey based on providing service for ecological management. According to this discussion, the authors proposed several implications for environmental geological survey and research development in China, i.e., enhancing ecosystem service evaluation of geological environment based on setting up the concept of natural capital, building a unified monitoring system of environmental geology through propelling the integration of the specialized monitoring station network, carrying out 3D geological survey and monitoring of earth's critical zone, and strengthening the basic research on the quick response of geological environmental events.
