Abstract:
Based on ROMS (Regional Ocean Modeling System) ocean model and the geological measuring data obtained in recent years, the authors developed a storm surge and inundation numerical model for the west zone of Bohai Gulf. The numerical model was verified. After that, the inundations caused by storm surge with return periods of 50a, 100a, 200a and 500a in the west zone of Bohai Bay were simulated. In addition, the dynamic development process and the maximum inundated area of storm surges for different return periods were analyzed. The results showed that the numerical model could basically reflect the change trend of storm surges elevation and the dynamic process of the occurrence, and the present model could simulate the development of storm surge inundation. With the increment of the density of the storm surge, there was an obvious trend that the inundated areas expanded from east coast to western inland in the west zone of Bohai Bay. Through the curve fitting method, it was found that the relation between the ratio of maximum inundated areas and the flooding level was approximately linear.
