Abstract: Using chessboard classification scheme, the authors divide the gold deposits into four categories, i.e., magmatic gold deposits, structure-related gold deposits, sedimentary gold deposits and metamorphic gold deposits. The deposits of each category can be further divided into some groups. This paper mainly deals with the application of this method in classification of gold deposits and, in combination with the description of typical gold deposits, providing a more reasonable classification method for gold deposits which could be better used for exploration.
