Abstract:
Based on an analysis of metallogenic characteristics of gold deposits in Yilgarn block, the authors built a gold prospecting model. Various kinds of geological anomalous information of the area was analyzed, and six evidence layers related to mineralization, i.e., strata, structures, magmatites, remote sensing anomalies, geophysical anomalies and geochemical anomalies, were extracted. The weight evidence method was applied to simulate the mine evaluation of the study area. Based on the posteriori probabilities, the authors determined third-grade prospective subareas and delineated three first-grade metallogenic targets. The results obtained by the authors provide effective means for prognosis of gold deposits in Australia.
